每天清晨，我都会被爷爷那叽哩呱啦的英语声给吵醒。你肯定会疑惑不解，告诉你吧，我爷爷随着奥运会的一天天临近，竟然每天早上五点多钟就开始学英语了。
爷爷常说："奥运会是我们中国人的骄傲。"到时肯定会有许多外国人来我们张家港观光旅游。如果走在大街上老外问咱们问题，咱们听不懂，也不知道怎么说，肯定会让他们笑话的。于是，爷爷就去"欧亚"报了个老年英语培训班。由于爷爷的'英语基础很差，学起来就特别的困难，再加上爷爷的一个门牙也掉了，发起音来更是费劲，而且还要闹笑话。虽然有这么多困难，但是爷爷很坚持，天天抱着复读机听个不停，还乐此不疲。
为了把英语学好，爷爷要求我和他用英语互相问候和对话。比如：每天早上他看到我起床就说一声："Goodmorning（早上好）！"下午放学回家就说："Goodafternoon（下午好）！"等简单的句子。有一次，我给爷爷倒了杯茶，他连忙说："Thankyou（谢谢）！"结果说成了"坦克油"，把我逗的捧腹大笑，差点把刚喝的水给喷了出来。在一旁吃饭的老爸更是笑得前俯后仰。奶奶也一边笑一边拍打着爷爷说："老头子，你都这么大年纪了，普通话都说不标准，还学英语呢，哈哈哈——"。爷爷故作镇定的说："这有什么好笑的，不就是把音读的重了一点嘛！"我连忙告诉爷爷说："爷爷，如果你把音读重了，就有可能变成另外一个意思，那样的话，外国人就有可能理解错误的。"爷爷听了迫不及待的让我教他，我耐心的一遍又一遍教他发音。虽然他的发音还是不怎么标准，可他坚持不懈的精神值得我们全家人赞叹。
爷爷身体不太好，还有糖尿病，医生叮嘱过爷爷要保证睡眠的充足，可爷爷为了学好英语，晚上仍然坚持去上老年英语培训班。爸爸也曾劝他多休息，担心过分的劳累会影响他的身体。但他坚定的对我们全家人说："为了北京的奥运，再大的困难也要坚持！"
在爷爷的不懈努力下，他的英语水平已有了一定的进步，基本的一些口语他都能比较流利的说出来。值得骄傲的是，在爷爷的带动下，我们小区里的一些老年人都开始学起了英语，报上了老年英语培训班。
爷爷不仅有中国人的骨气，还具有坚持不懈的精神。爷爷这种活到老学到老的精神，真值得我佩服！
